What about:
1) that socket-like tool that is just a lot of little pins.
2) the craftsman tool that grips anything?

I know that's a tight spot so neither of those may work. Anyone else?

use a short 14mm socket(i think its 14mm)or use a 14mm wrench or you can spend 20 bucks and get the craftsman tool that grips rounded off nuts i heard it works great but ive never seen it in action . im gonna get a set of those

here's a slight recap of the past weeks adventures:

tuesday:
bought special vicegrip monday night supposedly can remove ANY bolt by bearing down one the edges instead of the corner, cut hand and had to get 5 stitches at the hospitol from the edge of the block when the wrench slips off the edge of the bolt. **ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES!!**

wednesday: pondering the idea of removing the engine to get better access to the bolt.

thursday:
fit of depression about pulling engine out. go see harry potter , cheers me up

saturday:
commence attack on the bolt yet again. this time equipped with a bolt grabber a friend was so kind to drop off at work for me. does not work, and actually makes things worse by wearing down more of the already stripped bolt. i attempted to file down the stripped edges to make new area to grip. file slips and rips hole in mechanix gloves, and cuts my other hand, but not as bad though.

go upstairs, watch spiderman and re-read old emails. one email posed an idea, however not exactly as described, that fueled the process that did indeed get the bolt off. i drilled a hole through the side of the bolt (very carefully b/c the tensioner is right next to the spinning drill bit) once the hole was made (breaking 3 bits in the process) i managed to wedge a screwdriver into the hole and commence to bear down. first it bends, then snaps in half under the pressure of my whole weight bearing down on it. successfully tapped the broken screwdriver out and ream the hole out more to accomodate a larger screwdriver. screwdriver in, this time i add a vice grip to the shaft to get better leverage. finally a 4' lead pipe to the end of the grip for even more leverage. something was gonna give this time, i just knew it. bearing down yet again, *pop*, the bolt turns ever so slightly (insert brick in pants here) SUCCESS!!!!

now to put the engine back together...

Thats detemination. I would have just ground down the sides to make it fit a smaller size wrench. Good job either way.

i tried to do file down the edges to fit another socket on, but the bolt would just not hold its shape. it must have been put on with locktite or something, i was putting around 200+ ft/lbs on the bolt. i'll take a picture of the bolt/setup when i get my digicam back this weekend.
