My 2008 Accord EX-L makes a rattling noise for about 2 seconds when I start it after sitting for several hours especially when its cold. I have been told by the dealer where I purchased the car that this is a common problem that Honda has know about for several years and I need to replace it at a estimated cost of $800. If Honda has known about this why is it not covered by warranty? What will happen if I don't repair immediately.

 

It was covered under normal warranty, which is over by now for your 2008.
