Default 2002 misfire

Hi, so I have a 2002 Honda Civic ex 165,500 miles on it bought it at 163,000 miles. So I overheated it, went back the next morning & started up but was misfiring BADDDDDD, the code reader showed that all 4 of my cylinders are misfiring so went ahead & changed the spark plugs it was fine for about 3hrs then engine light went on again. Showed now that only cylinders 1 & 2 are misfiring *side note* when I changed my spark plugs I could see a spring on the bottom of the coil pack was loose a little wiggly which is on cylinder 2. My next guess is change the coil packs but first should I change coil packs in 3 & 4 to 1 & 2 see if the misfire changes ? What else could it be ? Is it safe for me to drive on town roads (25-30 mph) ?

With it misfiring, I wouldn't drive it very far at all... and honestly, I would be cautious to do so in case of getting stranded.

When you say the coil pack was wiggly... do you mean its damaged?

no no it’s maybe a 15 min drive at most if that & damaged not sure I just know the spring in the bottom of the coil pack was not sturdy Definitely not how the other ones were

Check for a failed head gasket - very common in these engines.

I don’t think it’s that, the car doesn’t over heat, & my oil is normal color. I did however just change the valve seal cause there was oil going on top of my block. Since I changed the seal no oil anywhere.

Have you checked your coolant level recently?

There are 3 things that cause misfires: compression issues, fuel injector issues or ignition issues. You say car does not over heat any longer but what caused it to overheat in the first place? Of course a blown head gasket can affect compression.Heat destroys electronics so its possible the transistors in the coil packs could have been affected and yes changing coil packs to see if the misfire follows it good to do.Fuel injectors, without a fuel pressure gauge and fuel injector tester to do an injector balance test the only thing you can do is ohm each injectors and see if in spec. When you say you valve seal I imagine you mean valve cover gasket and not the seal on the valves. I would not drive a misfiring car because fuel is not being burned completely which ends up on your catalytic converter -not good not to mention cylinder wash and thinning of oil both destructive to your engine.

its possible for coils to melt when the engine overheats

replace the 1 and 2 coils, clear the codes, see how it runs

compression test if necessary

*UPDATE*
so I went to my friends shop we switched the coil packs, that didn’t work so he asked what spark plugs did I change out I told him they said NGK on them then he asked what ones I had in, I told him Autolite (cheapest ones) sure enough we went & I got the DENSO spark plugs no more engine light, no misfire, runs smoother than it ever did !!!
