Need help I have a D15b non vtec with a ZC (P2A-10) stamed head PM3B cam gear, so we tried to set the timing same as the D15Z1 up mark up both side marks as level to the marks as possible but both dont line up, we also tried setting them to a D15b7 timing marks and still not correct, car is sluggish till 3rd gear, dizzy is at full advanced and still cant hit 16 degrees its around 14-15 am I off a tooth? Yes Im not a mechanic so sorry for the wording, bought the engine this way from Az JDM motors Thanks

 

yes you are off a tooth go back one
so the bottom kinda middle line lines up with the arrow


if your talking about the dizzy and 16 deg thats means you have a timing light
thats perfect man ^_^
set that top cam gear back one and then set the dizzy right
and that should do it

Timing light yessir, appreciate the help I was going crazy why my car was driving like **** but was some what ok at idle. I thought it was off a tooth but wasnt for sure, for sure appreciate it I couldnt find my build anywhere for the right timing, most posts are D15b/d16Z6 builds thanks bro.. Will let ya know when I get back at it to change the timing.

 

assuming your crank is set at tdc. The cam lines up with these

So my engine should be set to the timing of a Z6? Just making sure, top right in the photo

 

just making sure, when we try to set the two top marks even ------ they dont go even, if I set the left side even the right side is lower, if I set the right side even then the left side is lower then the arrow. Thats where I'm getting stuck at, if I set both top marks to the top arrows the the bottom mark is way off.. Appreciate the help for sure

 

yes sir the top right photo is the one you go by

the bottom mark is all that matters
with "your" engine
think of it this way
the up mark isnt really all the way up when you line up the side marks
but it is when you line up the middle mark

if you get your timing belt on the right spot the timing light will tell you
youll be able to set it at the white mark on the crank pulley no problem
with that timing light you can basiclly check your work to make sure its right




a side note
and this is only if you think your plastic timing belt cover is bent or something
is you look closely at the picture you posted you can see that the right tdc mark is supposed to be above the head surface
and the left mark under they are not supost to be even

Thanks fellas, finally got the timing set, pain in the ***, set the TDC then the cam and every time we go to tighten the belt it would jump off a tooth jaja but finally got it appreciate all the info.
