I have a p1 civic ex,, just had new ex flashed with key,, car will start and die after a few revolutions..and throws the {CEl} p1259, as to where the old {ecu} would start and drive but not. Above 3700-4000 toms or 63 mph, at that point it seems like the red limiter is hitting,, the old ecu would not communicate with a scan tool..
So after new ecu was installed and flashed the the key to it, code p1259 shows, ,, VTEC malfunction. I replaced VTC solenoid, and VTC oil pressure switch, as well as the oil pressure sensor.. I have a fresh oil change after flushing my block..the oil that came out of it prior to to the new ecu was so blackened with carbon build up and was pretty bad, but I've seen worse.. .I don't understand how the old ex would start and drive with that nasty a** oil.. But the new ecu won't run it with new oil.. .. Any trouble shooters, before going in to the oil pump.
