97 accord timing
Can the timing be adjusted with the distributor? I checked my timing with jumper in and it looked like the timing marks were advanced of the mark on cover and I couldn't turn the distributor is the timing belt off one tooth? Car idles fine.
When you put the timing light on your engine was the ECU set to base idle? If not, the marks may not line up as the ECU will make adjustments based on sensor input, RPM, Load and Engine Coolant Temp.
Yes it should be set to base idle and base timing. What RPM was your engine running at?
With the idle @ 650-700 RPM the ignition timing should be 13° - 17° BTDC.
