What do people mean when they say im running blah * total timing? newb question i know...i even searched, its amazing

The timing at your highest load point and rpm in your ignition maps.

 

total timing is the amount of timing the engine is running at when the distributor is fully advanced. base timing is set at idle with the distributor advance unhooked (well at least on fords , never set the timing on a honda before).

 

total timing reflects the amount of ignition advance from TDC (top dead center) at the top of their rpm and pressure limits on an ingnition table.
