no spark 1991 honda accord
Just replaced the engine in a 91 Accord. Will crank but not light. Timing is TDC, everything is plugged in. Fuses are fine. During first attempt to start there was intermittent spark but now nothing. Tried a new distributor., same. I have power to the distributor but no spark. Is there something that would prevent the distributor from sparking?
Did you check the ground on thermostat? Also how did the rotor and cap look on distributor? Your ICM or coil is probably bad. Look up Eric the car guy on YouTube. He does a great job explaining how to troubleshoot those.
Someone correct if I am wrong here, please. But If you are getting power to the ICM and Ignitor and no spark and you swapped the dizzy with a known good one. I would think that means it is not getting switching signal from the ICM, or Crankshaft position sensor? Here is an in-depth troubleshooting process of a honda ignition system (Part 5 -How to Test the Igniter, Ignition Coil Accord, Civic, CRV, and Odyssey). I would check. If you have checked power at both the ICM (Ignitor) and Ignition coil are getting power, I would next check to see if the ignitor is feeding a signal to the coil (test 5 in the link I sent). Then onto checking the Ignitor for triggering signal. Please keep us posted.
The Eric the Car guy diagnoses is good too but this is one goes into a bit more detail. Mad respect to Eric the Car guy, I have learned so so much from his videos.
