quick question...about y8 into 96 dx
Don't see any reason it won't. Swap everything over, everything work like it should. No code. Why would it not pass? Dx is only the trim. I doubt the inspector know everything single car, make, model, trim, options. I doubt some can tell whether the head is vtec or not. Unless you own hondas, you probably won't even tell.
If you are uncertain, you need to call your local inspection office and ask. Straight from the horse's mouth.
again, i dont see why you would not pass. There are only couple things different between the two motor, visually. Top mount air box and throttle body. Cat converter build into manifold.
Is there a spec sheet or list sheet the inspector print off and goes by?
Do they print out your car's motor details, placement of airbox, manifold, vtec solenoid..etc.. etc.. or do they check to see everything perform like factory?
Unless your inspector is a honda enthusiast, he wont be able to tell the difference between the 2 motor.

Unless they compare VIN from chassis to Block. Then you are ok. But if they compare VIN then you are screwed. Vin dont match, they can fail you for not original motor.
