Is Bigger better
I have a Civic 1996 hatchback the DX
Currently it's got the D16Y7 engine the 1.6L SOHC been a great motor very reliable. But for some reason I keep thinking about the B16A2 VTEC engine 1.6L it's DOHC that has an extra 60 horsepower. So the question is is it worth pulling that old engine out and putting that double overhead cam in there. Well I have to beef up my suspension will it even bolt up to the transmission do I need a new transmission and what about the motor mounts will they even match up. Will I have to modify the crap out of everything to make it work. Is it worth the extra work for that 60 horsepower that is the question.

All of the questions you're asking have been answered 10000x over. D -> B swaps are incredibly common, possibly the most common/documented swap in the import world.
You would need a hydraulic matching B series transmission. If going with a B16 engine I'd recommend the accompanying B16 transmission with the 4.4 final drive.
Nothing with the suspension needs to change. Mounts are easy to make work. Minimal electrical work. Easiest swap ever.

WOW Very cool been working on motors for a long time since 1976 mostly big blocks like 327 to 501 rocket still have a little learning curve to the imports.
Now I need to see if I what to spend the money and do the work from what you said is not that bad
Thank You
