Default Couple of newbie engine questions...

My step-son just got a '95 DX 5 speed coupe. What the stock engine? I think it's a 1.5l SOHC but I don't know the engine # (i.e., B18A) What would you guys reccomend for an engine swap? He will keep it NA and use it for normal street driving just looking for something a little more fun.
Thanks,

jd

for normal street driving n/a...i say you should go w/ a b16 or a b18c1...the b16 costs around 2300, the gsr costs around 3300

d15b7 to be exact, a quick easy swap would be a 92-95 ex or si motor, It is a 1.6l sohc vtec engine, their pretty cheap too.

don't do the b16 it's cheaper but really not worth it, your step son is gonna want more power soon after the swap, do the GSR pay the extra $500 -$600 the actual swap (labor) isn't that bad but the GSR or B18c1 is the cheapest for the power. Also while at it you might as well have some of the typical bolt-ons waiting to be installed as well.... CAI, Headers, and exhaust...

Yea i wsih my dad was as helpful and interested as you...

I was totally into American Iron too...until I saw, then drove, and then bought an S2000. Many of the other s2k owners cut their teeth on Civics, integras, etc. so I have been converted. I used to have a '71 Mustang and one of my dream cars is still a '69 or '70 BOSS 302. But for reliability, safety, practicality and most imprtantly fun, you can't beat a Honda IMHO.

i say you go b20b....this engine is torque and will beat most b18c1's on the street. then when he wants to get more power swap in the b16a vtec head. its been proven to put out better numbers than that s2k of yours. but i will trade my eg anyday for an s2k. but i love it when we go out to the cruisin spot and whip up on the richie rich's with the s2k in a EG. its beautiful.
