For about a week now I've been having to refill my tank every day. I couldn't find the issue, checked everywhere and everything (seemed) fine.

Today I looked under the gas tank and saw what looked to be a hex socket screw placed underneath the tank, barely holding on. It has a slow-leaking fluid (strange thing is it doesn't exactly smell like gas) coming out through the space between the tank and the screw. I tried pulling on it but it won't come out, but does spin freely and up/down.
It looks like this:






Another strange thing is that the surface which the screw is on swivels to the side, in an arc shape (similar to a ball joint but not exactly..).

The car's an '03 DC5 Type-S.

I have no clue what this is or how to solve it, and any ideas are appreciated.

 

Take a picture of what you are trying to explain on the tank of your car and post it here.

That did NOT come factory that way. It appears that in your video there are two irregular shaped holes... one that has apparently been plugged with the bolt that you have referred to with a washer and some type of fastener on the inside. The proper fix will be to pull the tank and replace it. If this is in an RSX, the original tank should have been plastic and that tank is metal. It almost looks like bullet holes...

 

What I don't understand is that the leaking fluid doesn't really smell like gasoline.

Also when I moved the washer up and down nothing came out between the threads.

 

Is that bolt/hole in the tank ??? Where exactly are these holes found under the chassis ???

 

Found this online, but the location I filmed was directly left of the muffler pictured, right before the subframe.

Looking at it now I guess the fuel tank might be after the subframe, in which case I have no clue what I'm looking at....

 

That's probably a hole in your spare tire well then. Pull the trunk floor and see?
