Default $1200 for my PCM? I'm ready to junk this car... is there any other PCM I can use?

I have a 2001 accord with the SULEV engine. The PCM is bad. Have been to 3 junkyards with no luck, this engine is like a ******* unicorn or something? Online parts places want $1200 for one!

Running out of options... if I can't fix this car relatively cheap I have to junk it. What other options do I have? I can't find one for sale on ebay... and I don't have time to crawl up and down the state walking around in junkyards. No parts cars near me for sale either.

I need the pcm for this specific engine... it's part # is: 37820-PAA-L96.

I have heard different opinions on whether the PCM from the ULEV or the VTEC engine will work on my SULEV engine. I don't want to sink money into getting a ULEV PCM reprogrammed for my keys only to find out it won't work or won't pass smog.

Any help is appreciated...

Well I keep reading conflicting information.

Some say I can use the PCM from a ULEV engine no problem. Others say I need the PCM for my SULEV engine or it won't pass smog. Just wondering if this is true.

Try car-part.com
You can search inventory at salvage yards near and far. I use it all the time.

I contacted a few places from car-part.com... thanks for those links.

The part I need just popped up on ebay, I grabbed it. Wish me luck!

you have an extra character in the ecu part number. Additionally it says on the Honda sites the l96 replaces l95 and is replaced by l97

You are correct, I did mis-type. It should be 37820-PAA-L96.

So a PCM/ECU with L95 or L97 should work for my SULEV engine?
