Skunk2 vs K-tuned 90mm throttle body for B-series
I am basically making this thread so that people that are searching this topic concerning Skunk2 90mm TB's in the future will stumble across this thread. I purchased a Skunk2 90mm TB to go on the Skunk2 ultra race manifold. This throttle body hangs open all the time at random RPM's. I have had two of them. First one stuck all the time. I got another one on the cheap and it sticks all the time as well. It sticks to the point where it is just unsafe.
I purchased a K-tuned 90MM TB and the quality difference and features compared to the Skunk2 is stunning. The K-tuned TB has an IACV mount cast into it for starters. The throttle does not stick, and the throttle cable rotor is fully clockable. It can also accept K-series or B-series TPS sensors just by switching out the bolt on mount.
The one and only downside to the K-tuned throttle body when using on a B-series is you have to use a K-style map sensor if the want to bolt it to the TB. I opted to move my B-series MAP sensor to the firewall.
I wouldnt even feel right if I gave away the Skunk2 throttle body cause it is an unsafe POS. In the trash it goes!

Skunk2 has some good products and has put time into R&D (we can debate how much), but their quality control is occasionally spotty, and their designs are sometimes flawed even during production. This isn't the first time I've heard issues with their throttle bodies sticking, from what I've heard their "Pro" series is actually more prone to it than their "Alpha". Either way, for products like this as you've already pointed out there are better, cleaner options available in the same price range.
On the note of their quality, I remember the first time I saw one of the new Ultra series manifolds and how disappointed I was at the huge amount of casting flash and uneven surface finish of the runners/bellmouth. For a $500 manifold I'd expect a lot better...

Definitely not the first time I've heard of Skunk2's throttle bodies sticking open. I have been using K-Tuned's 80mm throttle body on my daily driver Civic for 4 years now and have not had one single problem. This throttle body has been used in freezing conditions and hot humid conditions with no sticky anything.
As long as we are on the subject of throttle bodies the Accu Fab 90mm is a very nice piece. Also has a built in V-Band for charge piping which is a bonus.

K-tuned has interchangeable connections and can be V-band as well. The Accufab does look nice I used to run one on my Fox Body.

I have a s90 76mm throttle body that i havent used yet, but will when my build is done. I was so impressed with quality and feel of the s90 i convinced my buddy to buy one as well for his allmotor bseries setup and it works flawlessly. I would buy a S90 over S2 and blox any day. For a 90mm i would go ROSS all day, i've seen wilson first hand and their garbage.

I think I've gradually become more and more disenchanted with Skunk2's products (mostly their engine accessories).
That, plus in retrospect it was just a bad idea to try to build a car while taking full time college courses and only having funds from a part time job. Never making mistakes like that again.

It's typically an either it works out the box problem free...or it sticks out the box and will continue to do so. I owned a Pro series 74mm about 15 yrs ago, out the box would stick and hangup up, it stayed on the car less than 48 hours before it was removed. I said then I'd never get another (TB's back then were more "expensive" than they are now...) Fast Forward to 2012 or so, began talks w/ Skunk2 directly and ended up w/ another billet 74mm on my S2000. I was more than hesitant to even put it on, but I did, and out the box has been problem free. I've sold I don't know how many of the Alpha TB's and have never had a customer issue.
