1997 Del Sol SI Window/Door lock problems
1997 Del Sol SI Window/Door lock problems
1.) Driver window goes down but not up. Passenger window works. Rear window goes down but not up until sitting for awhile. Doors locks work intermittently with key fob. Mirrors don't work.
2.) Attached jumpers to +4 prong and - to 3 prong on driver's window motor plug. Window went up.
3.) Replaced master switch on driver's door with one purchased on line. Same exact issues.
4.) Tried to replace power control module behind and below radio with one purchased on line. Gave up after not being able to unplug radio and not being able to remove bracket plate below and behind radio.
5.) Could aftermarket security system be a cause of these problems?

Thanks NVturbo, I'll start there! I just poked my finger in and wiggled the wiring going into the door and locks and mirrors started working! Going to leave the wiring to my trusted mech! Thanks a GREAT DEAL!!!

The wiring isn't too hard to repair. Go to your local salvage yard and search for a '96-00 Civic. Behind the radio, you will find some light blue connectors. Those are the same type of pins/wires as the door jamb. You can de-pin and use it to repair the bad wires (on your car).
Had to do this in my old '94 Civic LX sedan.

You were right NVturbo, After having purchased a Window Control Module and having trouble getting to the one in the dash, I took my car to a local mechanic. The problem was, as you said, in the door jamb connector! They had to take the door off to get to it, but got the wiring fixed and now all windows, door locks and power mirrors work. I should have listened to several posts that recommended not throwing parts at it, I spent over $100 for a master window switch and a window control module, neither of which I needed. Oh well, live and learn, my Del Sol is now pretty much in perfect shape. Thanks again for your great advice!
Any time, man. Glad you got it working again.
Honestly, they did NOT have to remove the door off the hinges to work on it. More than likely, the bad wire would be on the door jamb portion instead of the door. That connector can be pulled back into the kick panel area to be repaired.
When I had that issue, it was a week or two after I had installed a security system on the car. The lock/unlock feature would randomly work with the remote. After wiggling the door jamb wires, it worked intermittently. The wires literally broke apart.

I suspected that. Mine has an aftermarket security system too, just glad you put me on right track! Merry Christmas!
(I suspected they didn't have to take the door off)
