Default Temperature Sensor Not Working

hi. I have a 96 Integra gsr and the temp sensor takes a long time to get to half if at all. Sometimes it just stays near c for the whole drive and I'm thinking that's gotta be wrong right? Any insight on what to do about this? Thanks guys!

Your thermostat could be stuck open... it may not be the sensor. Try starting the car cold and letting it sit and warm up at idle... if the temp gauge sweeps smoothly from cold to normal operating temperature, then the sensor is likely just fine.

Plug an OBD reader in and see what temp the ECU is reading, it has a separate sensor from the one in the gauge cluster. If the ECU is seeing hot coolant and the gauge says cold coolant then you have a sensor issue, if they both read hot the same then it's a thermostat issue.

If it's really taking that long to warm up, you either have a stuck thermostat or someone took it out completely.
