Rebuild my 2000sh motor or swap in a jdm version ??
My friends motor has been burning alot of oil . Mechanic said 1or 2 pistons are damaged .... should he rebuild current motor or swap with the jdm one ?
what's needed for the jdm swap ?

swap engine should be rebuilded as well
and remember that you need Type S engine to match SH transmission - otherwise you need to get JDM engine with transmission

I'd just rebuild the motor in it. I've read on here somewhere about the FRM sleeves not needing boring, just a hone, but you should probably research it yourself and make sure that the shop can do it.. If you do get a JDM replacement, make sure its for an ATTS equipped prelude. The block is different to make room for the ATTS unit.
No need to go through the hassle of rebuilding and hoping it's done correctly when theres still **** tons of lowish mileage jdm engines available for less than $900. Not to mention that it takes someone who actually knows how to work with FRM sleeves to do anything with the cylinders.

Keep it original, espically if it's the #'s matching motor for the car. JDM engine swap wouldn't be worth the $ for a small gain in hp and like others have said, it's best to rebuild or at least freshen alot of parts on a jdm engine before putting that in. For the $, i'd just make the original motor as rebuilt and fresh as possible.
