I have a 97 civic dx hatch. i got into a front end collision in the summer and fixed it up with junkyard parts and new O2 sensors, since the left side took most of the impact. My check engine light was on with 3 codes, 1 for each O2 sensor and the ELD. Brand new sensors and ELD didnt fix it. did some searching about found out about the alternator fuse in the interior fuse box. it was blown, i replaced it and cleared the light and now my battery is halfway on, but not fully on. checked the fuse again and its fine so i dont know what to do from here. i have a voltmeter and it sits at 14.4V so the alternator is charging. any ideas? pic above
Since you know about the fuse 15 problem, did you check the wires behind the engine that go across to the alternator? They are probably frayed and fuse 15 will blow again. Also the battery light is controlled from the alternator on one of those wires. If the wire shorts to ground, the light will come on.
If unplugging the 4 wire plug from the alternator (do this with the key OFF), makes the light stay fully out, alternator is likely defective.
