I'm assuming this black goo is from the hoses disintegrating. I've already replaced the upper radiator hose when I replaced the radiator. I swapped in an aftermarket overflow but it sucks. I want to try and clean out the factory one and go back to using it but nothing I can come up with will touch that black goo, and with the black gunk covering the bottle it's really annoying to try and see the coolant level. Is it worth it or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new OEM bottle?

A long bottle brush should do it.. You can even bend them to get around corners.

What solvents have u used on it?
Soak it with mineral spirit. Scrub with toothbrush.
Or
Soak with gasoline. Scrub. Rinse. Soap and warm water, rinse til gasoline is gone.

I always just used dish soap. Some degreaser may be another option.

I wouldn't use anything that will stay behind (leave a smell) cause that won't wash away and possibly polute your fresh coolant.

As long as you are thorough, it wont leave anything behind.
