Hey guys,
first time poster here have been viewing for a long time haha.
so my setup currently in my ef9 crx is:
b20 block
11.5:1 rs 85mm pistons
shot peened factory rods with arp rod bolts
Acl race bearings
b18 gsr head
Toda c2 cams
supertech valve springs and retainers
Aem adjustable cam gears
jenvey 52mm itbs
The car made 136kw at the wheels..
although previously the car had a stock gsr head, stock cams, intake manifold etc.. and made 140kw at the wheels..
my question is how come my setup made less power noe with more mods ?
cams too big for this setup and not enough comp or revs to get them going ?
mind you both setups were reving to the same 7600rpm...
as I recently spun a bottom end bearing I'll be rebuilding it again maybe just with stronger aftermarket rods..
Thanks in advance

Why are you only revving to 7600rpms? The power in displacement in your case is from 5000rpms to about 8500rpms.
You need a better engine management solution. Doing a B20/VTEC is not just putting the components together but you need better making at a higher rpm redline. You're doing fine so far.. Map more, rev higher
I think you nailed it with the super long camshaft duration combined with the lack of compression. I'd suggest different cams, too bad you live so far away or I'd suggest we trade or I'd buy off you.
TheShodan is also right about the RPMs, funny how the graph shows it flatten out up top but I think they let up on the pedal at that point.
The block is unchanged between your old dyno visit and the graph? Or you did a fresh bottom end rebuild? Maybe the bearings are tight and the rings not sealing just yet.
IDK if measuring in KW changes a dyno graph but the TQ and Hp (KW) don't meet at 5250....seems goofy to me. Looks like VTEC could engage 1500-1700rpm later as well and take some dip out. Look at it ramp up before the crossover...
It does make a difference. There are a lot of units wrapped up in that '5250'. The metric formula is Power(kW) = Torque(Nm) * RPM / 9.549. OP's graphs are in tractive force (N) instead of torque (think lbs instead of lbs-ft), so that would be yet another constant that I don't remember at the moment.

I figured, I'm just not that smart and didn't care to dig into it much lol
I feel you. At work we do everything in kW but our customers often want things in hp (even though we never give them exact numbers), so I’ve gotten pretty used to switching back and forth.

I sell generators for a living (KW) but just send spec sheets with motor info. Too many other things to remember lol
