Default Boosted Crower 404 Guys

hey guys got some ??? before i ask im going to post my setup.

B18a block stock sleeves
SRP 10:7:1 pistons
Eagle rods
acl race bearings
stock crank balanced and polished
.74 head gasket
ported head
crower springs and retainers
404 cams on stock cam gears for now
edelbrock intake manifold

thats the motor setup i didnt fill like posting the turbo setup but my ? is what did you guy do to get the most power of of these cams like did you put adj cam gears or maybe ran stock ones. I just hear so much about (why did you go with a all motor cam) but ive seen alot of people make good power on them but never say what they did to make them work for there boosted setup.

I have ran Crower 403s in my old b20 setup. Worked out GREAT. Had them set to 0 int and 0 exhaust. Never moved them from there. It provided me with better topend where the b20 lacks 4k to redline really moved. I have seen alot of people that run a LS or a b20 head instead of going with a vtec head use NA cams.

I used my stock cam gears with my 404's. I was never concerned with adjusting the cam timing bc i was running stock block and didnt wanna smash the valves into the pistons. The car had a rude idle, probably bc i had no cam timing adjustment to smoothen out the idle but i absolutely loved it. I used a Precision T3/T67 turbo, didnt see full boost till 5000-5500 rpm, but wow did the car ever pull harder the higher it revved. The only advice i would give you with this setup is put a decent size turbo in combination with what youve listed for the motor setup. You definately wont be dissappointed.

Wopsicle69 thanks for the reply you really helped me out and im going to be running a sc61 63 a/r exhaust i dont really care about the idle cuz its my race car. What did you pull yours out to rpm wise i would like to rev to 9k if it will make power tell then lol. But thanks alot for the help

I had my rev limiter set at 8200rpm. I know if I wouldve revved it higher it wouldve kept making power. The hp curve on the dyno graph was still on its way UP at 8200rpm. But given I was using my stock block the last thing i wanted was to send a stock rod thru the block and maybe thru the turbo lol.

I would definately rev her to 9k rpm ... as long as its still making the jam. I like that your a higher than normal compression ratio too. My next motor I build will be 11.5:1, just to see what it does. Good luck with it. Give'r lots of boost and make us proud boy!!

Stock b20b w/ Crower 403 cams, stock block, sc44 turbo .48 ex .60 comp, inline pro mani, precision 650 ic, rc 550's Tial WG @ 9spi. Ran 14.07's in the 1/4 on a basemap and exhaust housing was too small so I was losing power up top.

Also ran the b20 NA with the 403 cams and ran 15.5's first time I ever drag raced with like 2.4 60's on Street Tires.
