94 civic cx hatch idles low then dies
Hello everyone, I've been having an issue with my hatchback that seems to be getting worse. Car is all stock with a d15b7. The issue I am having is the car will drive fine (no sputtering, lag, etc) but when I come to a stop the car will idle very low then die. After it dies it will start right back up and be fine. But now lately it seems to die every time I have to stop at a light or stop sign for more than 30 seconds or so. It always starts up again with no problem. I'm going to clean out the iacv tomorrow, but does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this issue?
Edit: forgot to mention it has no check engine light or codes being thrown

Most likely a failing coil or igniter inside the distributor..

If it needs a coil and/or igniter purchase OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts only. I think OEM coil/igniter is either TEC or Hitachi depending on which distributor your engine has.

Okay, so I replaced the Main relay with a brand new oem one (no changes). Then I replaced the dizzy with a used oem one, problem has gone away so far. Hopefully thats the end of it
Most likely the coil and/or igniter (inside the distributor) was the issue. Either way you got it working and a used OEM is better and less expensive than a new aftermarket distributor. Aftermarket distributor's for these cars are known to be junk.
Yeah, I still don't understand why it even had an aftermarket dizzy, the car only has 81,xxx miles.(Had 78K) when I bought it. But its working fine still
