Default 5th gen build question

Hey guys so im planning out a build for my lude and making sure im getting all the supporting mods to get the most out of my build. Im planning to run jrsc setup with a low shot wet nitrous system (im thinking maybe 65 or 75 shot). My question is can you tune the stock one or am i going to need to get a new ecu (programmable ecu). And if so which one would you guys recommend for what im planning

Pardon if its a newb/silly question this is my first project so its all a learning experience, so any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance

You absolutely will need a tunable ECU solution. I recommend a Hondata s300 with an OBD-1 ECU and adapter harness.

Anytime you add forced induction like a turbo or supercharger, your going to need to run a chipped or stand alone ecu due to the need for more fuel delivery and changes in ignition timing. It is also very helpful when adding nitrous because it allows for a safer and more tunable engine but a chipped or stand alone ecu is not required for nitrous alone. Nirtous systems are complete and include everything you need to install and run.

Agreed, Hondata S300 is the best and most cost effective tuning solution. Works only with OBDI ecu's though so you will need an OBDI Honda ecu that will still run your H22a4 like a P28.
You will need an OBDII-to-OBDI ecu adapter harness like one from rywire too. You will need a OBDIIB-to-OBDI harness to be exact.
The P5M OBDII ecu in your car and a P28 control the engine in the same way as far as fuel and ignition mapping, its just that the emissions control system is not part of a P28 (OBDI) ecu.

Where in the world did you find a JRSC system for a 5th gen??
Just out of curiosity, what made you want to run a sc and nitrous together?

The H22 JRSC was designed for 5th gen Preludes actually, those with 4th gens have modified them, or beat the hell out of their car to clear the brackets and pulleys.

The largest issue with the JRSC is intake air temps, and nitrous very effectively cools the intake charge, so running them together works well, if the engine can take it and the tune is solid. The best JRSC setup I have seen was a fully built engine, and direct port nitrous in the runners below the supercharger, and the charger was rebuilt, coated etc. He still ended up selling it and going turbo.

I dont own a jrsc system yet, but im keeping my eye out for one and ive been researching different builds for a while now, trying to decide which one i want to do on my h22 and i really liked the jrsc for the lower rpms, as far as the nitrous i thought itd go well with the sc since it could provide some extra power in the higher rpms if i need it.

Any idea how the motor had been built? what sleeves, pistons, etc. I actually want to get the motor built up before adding any forced induction or n2o

It was done by PFI speed in Colorado, pretty sure they use Darton or LA sleeves. Not sure on the pistons.

In any case, you should figure out what your goals are and set a good game plan for that, as opposed to someone else's build that changed a bunch over time.

If you are serious about building an engine, I would start with any one of 3 options:

Kaizenspeed
Golden Eagle
Howard's Hot Rods / Darton East ( I think that's the name)

Or, I know Blake Barr is trying to sell his fully built engine, not sure if he has been active on here lately, but he is on the H series FB pages. Great deal for what he has, if I was in the position to be looking, I would buy his engine in a second.
