Camshaft & Similar Modification Suggestions for 200-220whp - B20/VTEC in South Africa
Hey I drive a 97 ek4 b20 with following mods.
b16 head , b20 sub .
ycp pistons
skunk2 tuner 1 cams
p&p head
standard intake manifold , with cai and velocity stack
b16 gearbox and standard clutch
Toyos r888r 225/50/15
management system
and 63mm branch
Im deciding to do some mods and have the option on getting either skunk2 pro2 or buddy club spec 5 or crower 403 cams. Which one will be suitable for a daily driver as well ? Or what other options should look at maybe getting skunk2 pro series intake with skunk2 68mm throttle body ?
the car is doing pretty well ,raced a car that does 14.2 consistently . Won bout a car lenght . That mean could possibly be late 13's. So im just looking to squeeze a little more power out of it to get into lower 13's. Any suggestions ?

this cam is very small (tuner 1) try a pro2 with a pro series intake manifold and you will see a great gain if the cam are degreed right
Hey are there other cams thats just as good pro2 . Haven't come up a deal yet on cams for me. Wanted to do a injector upgrade too run some ethanol so i can get the most out of my pistons while I wait for a set of cams to become available, porting the standard mani and throttle a good idea ?

If you dont have experience porting the manifold, i wouldnt do it. If anything, port match your throttle body to the manifold. Yes there are other cams out there that would work but pro 2 is good.
what is your budget?

Hey im not doing the port job myself. I opted for bigger enjectors for a whileand button clutch Dropped the idea about cams but theres now a few sets for sale . Buddy club spec 3 , pro 1 , and brian crower bc0013 . So im stuck on diciding which ones to get .
buddy club spec 3 is so small.Get the pro 1 since its the bigger that you can have in this group.
I took the pro1's thank you for the help, but Im confused now the guy told me the cams is pro1s but the marking on it is D. Can this be pro 3 cams ?
tuner 1's are plenty for your power goal. I made 206whp with type r cams in my oem b20vtec running 12.5 in a ek hatch. my buddy made 226whp with a b20vtec with tuner 1 cams, type r rep pistons, stock port head, skunk2 ultra street intake manifold tuned on e85 in a eg hatch lightened up running 12.0 consistently.
Thats pretty good times. Would definitely love to run in the 12's. But I bought Cams over the weekend. But as mentioned above , im trying to figure out are they pro1s or pro2s
Don't know if this has changed from 2011, but this may be of some help. Seems as though there is a disparity between "D" & "F" designations now. Perhaps its time to call Skunk2. No one had an original box, eh?
After seeing a number of people posting about the markings on our B & H camshafts we thought it would be a good time to create a thread listing the old markings for our camshafts as well as the new markings.
All camshafts manufactured and sold starting March 2011 will have the new markings. These camshafts will have the same stamp on both Intake and Exhaust cams.
Camshafts made/sold prior to March 2011 will be hand etched, those made after will be stamped.
