Stupid clip!

trying to put my short shifter in and it's the only thing stopping me.

 

put a pair of vice grips on it at the top and yank it up and off

actually it looks like vice grips might not fit so put a flat head screwdriver in between it and the piece and pry it up

you might need one on both sides

 

a small flat head screwdriver under the op lip, i took one out last week ,it's easy.

 

op lip? Sorry I'm not familiar lol. Did you mean top lip? So far I've had no luck but I'm at work so i haven't tried anything else. Thanks for the replies

 

The top bends and has a lip. You should be able to wedge a flathead under that and pop up and out.

It is that easy. Just use a flat head screw driver to pry between the folded top edge of the clip and the shifter box housing. You can attack it at an angle from the sides and/or directly from the back and "twist" the blade to raise the clip. Once it is high enough, you can place the blade of the screw driver through the slot in front and pry (against the cable directly behind the clip) straight up to remove the clip fully.

 

Yep it was! I got it out super easy, took me like 5 mins to swap the shifter assembly after that.
