Yeah I searched the archives

Lost my daily to Harvey. TBH, never thought I would be on a Honda forum. Long story short, a very nice guy sold me his '03 civic lx for $1. Very noticeable rattle 2-3k rpm. Searched YouTube for 2 weeks, all roads led me to this site.

$5 it's the catalytic converter heat shield.

Jack up the car and tap on the exhaust with a rubber mallet in different areas. Instead of a rattle you might just hear a single "ting" noise when you tap on it, but yeah it is probably a heat shield.
