noise at 7000rpm
ok i got this weird noise i am hearing at 7000rpm and above. doesnt seem to be from the motor but rigth under me when i am driving and when ever i got a passenger they it sounds like right in the middle by the exhaust area. its a ticking noise. my seems to be running fine and everything but it bugs me. i havent had a chance to put it up on a hoist and rev it up to see where the noise is coming from or to even see if its only made when the car is rolling. but anyways hoping someone might have an idea what it might be. oh yeah its a 93 civic si hb with b18c1, no special mods to motor pretty much stock motor.
hey it isn't a good idea to rev an engine that high without a load
it is harder on the believe it or not
and also does your car ever bottom out
because if it does you may have bent your exhaust and at 7000 it makes just the right amount of vibration for your tubing or cat to be hitting something
also check your rear motor mount
they tend to come loose at times espesially on swapped motors
i had a problem at one time with the bolts falling out of my mount
this could become a very large problem if not watched

if it is happening under a load its most likely the cat i had the same thing got gradual then started to bog all the way out and couldn't get it past 30mph....also it could just be an exhaust ratlle from heat shields and such
