ap1 cluster swap on eg speedo inop
I did an ap1 swap on my EG6 and after installation, i noticed all functions work except the speedo. My speedo on my old cluster works, although it jumps from 0-80 kph. I did some reading and found that these are common on these specific year of civic. Is there anything i need to check like wires? Help a civic brother out.
If the odometer works, that shows the car is providing power and VSS signal to the speedometer/odometer head, and the problem must be internal to the speedometer section.
What brand of signal converter are you using ??? The AP1 cluster uses a high frequency VSS input while a B/D/H transmission provides a low frequency output... the cluster will not recognize the output if you do not have a signal converter.
So everything i have currently installed:
JDM AP1 CLUSTER
WIREWORKS harness
k-tuned VSS converter
i have double checked all my wires and they have good connection. Like i said, it traces back to my old tach jumping from 0-80 even though im only going no more than 10kph.

From what I've read about this swap is you need a speedo healer unless the K-Tuned converter does that. If not, the speedo doesn't work either at all or not properly. Or since your old since you mentioned your old one would jump, I'd try a new VSS before the healer.

Agreed... if you experienced this issue before making the cluster swap, I would inspect the VSS sensor itself as well as the three wire plug itself.
UPDATE GUYS. After testdriving the vehicle, so I found that the odometer isn't working same as the Speedo. Gonna inspect the vss tom and the 3 plug connector if i have good connection. if i forgot something else. please lemme know what else to check.
