The outside window rubber seals are falling to pieces on my 2013 Civic. Although out of warranty, this seems to have occurred very early in the cars life. Car only has 17000 miles and already falling apart. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Seems to me they should last a bit longer than 4 years.

 

They do not normally have that problem. The mileage doesn't matter. You only have 17k miles on a car that is 5 years old which means the car sits in the sun and the elements not moving for long periods of time. That is what is doing the damage.

 

I would expect the same if car was sitting outside all the time but in garage 90 % of the time when not in use. These seals are so cracked pieces are litterally falling out. Have had two previous Civics and did not experience this problem.

 

Seals don't just crack and fall apart from sitting in the garage for 5 years. Something else has happened or someone has used some product on them to cause them to fall apart.
