Suspension knocking noise after installing new trailing arm bushings.
2000 Civic Coupe. I noticed the trailing arm bushings had a tear/rip in them so i replaced both of them with new OEM ones. I did all the research about installing them and believe I did everything correctly and torqued everything to the required pounds. But now there is a knocking noise from the driver's side rear when going over bumps. The car does have a ITR rear sway bar with an ASR subframe brace, which was installed many years ago.
Any ideas?

Did you clock the bushing correctly? Did you get a alignment after? If not, it could be that when reinstalling the trailing arm the toe got set pretty off, get a alignment it's always recommended.
I did follow the clocking procedure correctly. I have not had a chance to get an alignment but it was really obvious where to put the bolt and washer back for the toe; because it was the only clean area. So it can't be that much off; anyway, I don't suspect that would cause a knocking sound when going over bumps.
My only possible theory is that maybe something got wind up with the sway bar, like too much pressure or weird angles were subjected to the bar and it's bushings or end links when installing the new bushings for the trailing arm; but I'm not sure.

Just got under the car, was going to take off the sway Bar end links and reinstall them to see if they made a difference and one of them fell apart in my hand. Is it safe to drive the car without any end links attached? I realize I won't be utilizing the benefit of having a sway Bar.
Yes but I'd at least unbolt the other side, preferably remove the sway bar altogether. You know they sold cars without sway bars right?

Yes. The answer is yes. But, you run the risk of it getting caught on road debris or what not. Then you will end up with a useless, bent, sway bar. You cant just unmount it from the car or you just dont want too? Or just too lazy to unbolt 5 bolts?
Definitely laziness. After having to replace both trailing arm bushings only to discover the end links making noises as well. I don't want to remove the sway bar while waiting for replacement end links. I don't think they will get caught on any thing; it doesn't hang below the control arms.
