Default JDM or US Transmission

I have a 1998 Honda CRV with a MDLA Transmission that needs to be replaced.

I have seen numerous ads for these JDM transmissions with the SKNA identification but I have read mixed reviews on if they will work with the US smog requirements. I'd hate to get trapped into a situation where it wouldn't pass smog.

I would appreciate it if someone could clear up the issue for me.

Thanks,

Default Re: JDM or US Transmission

It'll throw a CEL for incorrect gear ratio, so it won't pass smog (that is if it's an OBD2 test on 96+ cars, which it is in most states).

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I was hoping someone would come back and tell me I could take the old censors off my existing tranny and use them on the JDM but that is starting to sound like just wishful thinking. I am in California where they test for everything.

Thanks Again,

Mike
