So I attempted to launch my RSX with my performance clutch for the first time, never launched a car before, revved to 3500 RPM, dumped it smoothly (not as smooth as I should have obviously) and the car started rattling like crazy barely getting any speed and the revs just sky rocketed so I stopped after a second or two. I smell no clutch or any of that, did I do any serious damage? Drives just fine.

 

Did you break the clutch in by not shifting over 3000 for the first 500 (at least) miles or did you just launch right after installing it?

 

Didn't break it in, just went for it lol

 

Also from the way you described it, it kinda sounds like wheel hop/spinning tires, that's the best case scenario.

 

What clutch? Stock flywheel?

Well hopefully you didn't just glaze the new clutch surface. Try doing research before you just launch it next time, lol. There's really no way to know whether you did damage unless you want to pull the transmission again, which I'm sure you don't. Just take it easy for the next couple hundred miles. Hopefully what you felt was wheelspin/wheel hop.

 

I'm thinking it was just wheel hop since in all honestly I don't even know how I did anything wrong, I used to launch my 2017 Mustang GT all the time. The control arm / tires are completely **** on my RSX so it's probably that.
