New to this Honda site and need help with my friends 86 civic 1.5 F.I 5spd . This is not a street car its a barber poll car that races on a 1/4 mile asphalt track. Bought the car basically turn key. Completely stock engine. Issue is runs fine at part throttle but when you go full throttle it misfires bad. Have changed the fuel filter and checked the fuel psi and its( 40psi). All the cyl are firing and the injectors sound like there ok. What should we ck next

 

any codes showing on the ECU?

 

dose the ecu have a read out on it or do i need to plug in a reader

 

the ECU is under the passenger seat and has LED readout on the passenger side of it - the readout is binary - it has (4) LED's on it - the one on the left has a value of 8, the next one to the right is 4, then 2 and then 1 - to get the code just add up the values for the LED's that are lit - for instance, if the 3rd and 4th from the left are lit up, you would have 2 plus one = 3 - 3 is code for the MAP sensor

Was able to read code 5 MAP sensor. Now all the lights are off but it still misses under load but i think that is the plugs and wires. General tune up stuff i hope. I would like replace the MAP sensor but that one is like 300/00 is there one that will work other than the original. This is a race car so maybe one that works on less vacuum?
