Coolant temp sensor
ive got a 1996 civic hatch with a d16y7 in it and it has an overheating problem already changed thermostat and test fan with paperclip, fan won't click on once it gets a bit over running temp trying to replace coolant temp sensor but can't find the right one the ones from auto stores threads are too small and the one I pulled out doesn't have the probe help me please? Did the person before me put a different housing in there?
Are you pulling the fan thermo switch from the thermostat housing or the Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) sensor from the engine head?
The ECT has nothing to do with the fan while the Fan Thermo Switch doesn't have anything to do with telling the ECU what the coolant temp is.
