Does this price sound good?
I happened to come across a 93 hatch as I was visiting my local tuner shop and was wondering if I should pick it up for a new project. It's a red Si, body good, engine good, interior good. He is asking 3000, I have talked him down to 2700 but even still the milage is pinned close to 167000. Kelly Blue Book rates prices from 2150-2750 for the average milage which to them is 10-12000...so he's still asking a couple hundred more than I would like to pay. Would you do it if you were in my spot? Or would you just wait for another to come by?
2700 for an Si that is in good shape is a deal. I think this board is plagued with people trying to "bring the price down" and "offer a little less." How ******* gay is being a penny pincher? If you don't have the money, conisder that maybe you are not being ripped off, and maybe you just need more money. Si's are become more and more rare every year, and IMO (and everyone else in the REAL automotive world), are more desirable than any other Civic model. If the car has a clean VIN, and it looks to be well mantained, 2700 sounds like a great deal.
BTW, the longer I work at a dealership, the more I realize that trade-in value on a car is about 2-3K less than low book, and retail price is about 2-3K more than high book. Fact of life, KBB means ****. Look in your local Auto Trader. IF anyone is selling Si's in there, you should compare prices with that.
