Gauges
If the cluster has been removed or replaced the wires or connectors may have not have been seated properly.
An open in the Fuel circuit would cause the gauge to peg at fuel. I think Temp is the same as well. Thermo(temp) sensor is located below the distributor, verify that the wire going to it is still connected and not just floating or grounding out on the engine.
