94 Accord Brake Upgrade

94 Accord Brake Upgrade
Hi, Looking for a brembo look brake upgrade on the cheap using an up spec or newer model Honda that is a straight bolt on with little or no mods. I have a 94 Accord VTiS with K sport coilovers and running 17x7 rims. Seen a few threads on here but are a little confused as to what avenue to take.
I'm only a chef and not a mechanic but have modified a few cars in my time. I am new to 4 cyl cars and Hondas. Just want to get some more detailed info from you guys and gals who know these cars well. Cheers

Well this is a huge can of worms to dive into. Does your accord have rear disc brakes? If not, that is an easy bolt on from an EX that has them. Then to the front...you can upgrade to parts from an Accord wagon or V6 model as they are slightly larger. And you can go the wild route converting to 5 bolt hubs and there are some acura options that utilize multi piston calipers and much larger rotors.

Thanks for your quick reply jollyhonda, I have disc brakes all round. Understand your front upgrade now. Wish I new more earlier about the upgrade to a 5 stud pattern as I have only just purchased new rims on the 4x114.3 pattern but are very happy with them. Not unhappy now about the rotors as I have found some cool looking cross drilled and slotted rotors that are a direct replacement. Just are looking for some cool larger calipers that I can paint red and get that cool race look.

If you go to the Acura RL calipers you may run into interference with your rims. That would mean spacing them at the very least. All depends on which rims you bought. Also, you will need at least 320mm rotors and I don't know where you will find them for a 4-lug hub.

But yes wheel clearance is the biggest issue with upgraded brakes. I can almost guarantee you your 17x7 wheels will not clear the RL calipers. Granted, each wheel design is unique and may have more or less clearance, but a 7in wide wheel will almost always not be designed with brake clearance in mind. 8" wide wheels and wider are much more likely to clear the brakes, but it is not guaranteed. Some wheels will no clear, no matter how wide they are. Its the one downside to a big brake kit, it can be a challenge to find wheels you like, and that also clear the brakes. I've run like 6 or 7 different wheel designs since installing my brakes, so I have an idea what will work, but some stuff you won't be able to tell until you can actually test fit them. My current Volk wheels I can fit my thumb between the calipers and the wheel spokes, but I've had sets in the past I couldn't even fit a penny in the gap.
