Hey guys, was wondering if any one has had the tensioner assembly bolt break on their h22 while they were cruising? (4000 rpm in fifth)

This is a fully built h22 with balance shafts deleted, and a manual tensioner. This car is turboed and basically lasted the dyno and broke on the way home.

My adjustable cam gears came loose during a power pull, and started to chatter. This happened about four hours before failure. We tightend with lock tight and then did more pulls. This is the only reason i can think of why it broke. Any other ideas? Really dont want to repeat history.

1: Overtorqued it, that bolt should allow free play of the tensioner, as it was meant for use on the auto tensioning system.

If you had cam gear/s come loose, I would be going through everything on that engine again to ensure nothing was damaged or bent. You might have something binding up, like a damaged cam, bent rod or valves, etc that is placing more load on a portion of the system. I say this as I lost an engine when a cam gear came loose on the dyno myself, but it went fully retarded on one cam at 7K rpm, with Pro1 cams and pistons that stuck out of the hole .020. Still not sure how it happened, either weird harmonics or just bad luck. In any case, I had V2V contact on every single valve.
