Default H22 w/ Bolt Ons or K20

I'm debating about which motor to swap into my car. Its either going to be a H22 w/ bolt ons(header, intake mani, throttle body, clutch, flywheel, intake, cam gears, etc etc) or a K20 w/ just the basics to get it installed(header, intake, hondata).

The K20 i'm looking at is the Type S version and the H22 is just a base H22.

I'd go K20, I've had the H22a in my car already. And don't get me wrong its a great motor too... but the power that the K-series engines are putting out are just amazing with just simple bolt on's. I always say "whatever justifies your budget" Good luck

best bang for the buck is h....best power gain for the buck is k....like this guy above me said, whatever fits your budget...and if you can do a k swap, you can certainly do h2b....i would o with the h2b, but thats just me...

i would deff look at the price differance... h22 arond 5k with bolt-ons and a2 swap around 7 with minor bolt-ons... thats a pretty good chunk of change... but its whatever your wallet can afford... i say k!

yeah that is to high for JUST the swap, but with bolt-ons and h2b like I said, then that would be arond 5k.... but is worth it

its pretty close to 9-10k when you have motor, trans, mounts, axles, shifter, cables, kpr, tuning, header, intake, idler pulley, fuel system.

id go h2b. right now i have an h but this coming winter im going h2b if i can go back to a rod shifter after my hole was cut for the prelude shifter

I wouldn't get a K even if it was only 10K and I had the cash.

And yeah it is going to be around 8-10K.

3k for the motor and MAYBE tranny if your lucky otherwise
1K for tranny
1K for K-Pro
Another 500 - 1K to find someone to Tune a K-PRO
So there is your 6K
That leaves
1K for mounts and fabrication because obviously he ain't gonna do it himself.
1K for a decent header to fit into his car because everyone thinks the K is big **** and is custom fabbed.

Theres 8K
Now we gotta get the wire harness to plug and play. A different radiator to fit and coolant lines.
Don't forget we have to add a fuel rail with a return on it to be compatible with the car.
Fab up the shift cables so it can work.

Now tell me without a stolen engine and robbing customers money so he can fit a K into his car for under 10K.

Sorry but now back to the real world where he can have a completely stock reliable car with an H22 for under 5K and that is installed running with some last minute parts.

1400.00 shipped H22 from HMO where steve will take care of him if he asks nice.
800.00 Y21 JDM LSD tranny. I paid less than that for mine
1300.00 Evolution H2B kit with mounts and everything
150.00 for a GSR or 92-95 ex/si harness and only have to lengthen alt wires.
100.00 for explicit alt bracket
50.00 for shaved crank pulley
150.00 for chipped P28 by HandCommand a little more from xenocron, phearable or moates.
600.00 for camp 1320's H2B header.
150.00 for axles and intermediate shaft
=4700.00
300.00 for fluids (coolant, oil, tranny) and some other misc **** that is gonna be needed.

Ask anyone on the H2B thread and this will be roughly the same price, except most of us already had the tranny, axles, ecu fabbed our own damn headers to make it. (right Amy) albeit maybe shitty until we can afford the 1320's.
Everything else is labor that most of us do our own damn selfs.

To OP: carefully weigh your options. If you pay 1000.00 for something and decide you don't want it and are forced to sell it for 800.00. Do that 5 times and that is your spare motor.

Don't waste money foolishly and always, did your read that ALWAYS plan your build even if you have to right it down.

I feel better now.

no need to have 1k header just to make it work...the hasport one is under $400...for some1 who wants the swap that is good enough and there is more ecu options as well such as k20a ecu, both my friends that a k swap were using them with no issues...

wow you guys are funny about how much the engine and tranny cost. I got my engine/tranny/shifter cables/engine harness/charge harness/and ecu for under $1500.

I bought my conversion harness and hybrid clutch line for $350.

I bet I'll have the whole swap done for about $3500-$5000 with bolt ons.
