So I recently got this 93 civic and when I bought it you have to the leave the heat where it is no turning it down unless it is the fan. Well my little brother messed around and now I have no heat. I texted the guy I got it from who is also a mechanic and he said "The gold pin underneath the passenger glove box. There is a cable zip tied to it. Just pull it back and forth." But I cant find it and he is out of town. Any help?

 

Gold pin? Zip tie? None of that is stock. So you're on your own finding whatever rigging was done.

When properly assembled in stock configuration, the slider on the dash goes to a push-pull cable which works a mechanism on the bottom of the heater box, which is right in the center of the car above the hump in the floor. This mechanism moves a rod that opens and closes the air door inside the box. It also moves another push-pull cable that goes through the firewall and moves the water valve on the engine side of the firewall.

 

Both your little brother and previous owner shouldn't be working on cars obviously.

 

Sound like the slider cable retention clip either broke off or gone missing. Hence the zip tie rig. Mechanic was not fixing it properly.

Go here. Look at photo #15. It should look exactly like that. Notice the clip holding the cable in, circled in green. Check that.
