Default Recommendation for buying new header

Hey all,

I'm looking to replace the OEM header on my 99 Civic EX D16Y8 Auto 4 speed. I have a small exhaust leak from a small crack. I'm not trying to get any hp gains, just need a replacement. Can anyone recommend a reliable brand / website to purchase from online? Just wanted to look at some options other than ordering one from Honda. Possibly looking for a new Cat as well.

Thanks!

DC sports makes a cheap, smog legal header for your application.

Your local scrap yard is your best bet.

The transmission has no effect on the exhaust system, as far as I know.

Automatic transmissions have a thicker support bracket that is in the way not allowing the 4 runners to fit properly. So they need slightly different shape exhaust manifold.

Dont know what bracket you are talking bout but i have no issue running a generic header for the y8 on my auto y7(98 lx).. no fitment issue, fit fine. At the sametime, i am also running y8 intake manifold conversion on my y7. No issue either. Yes, my car is auto also.

What do you mean generic? OEM? aftermarket?

The transmission mounts are larger on the automatic transmissions. Which don't allow you to use some aftermarket headers.

I was possibly looking for an aftermarket replacement, but not many are made for automatics.

Yes a replacement (used) OEM header would be a direct fit. I'm just looking for options

Im using a cheapo ebay $50 header, aftermarket, DNA brand. My oe manifold has the cat converter built in as 1 piece. It cracked, causing a cel. So i convert it to y8 header.

Just a piece of advice for those looking to go the cheap chinese ebay header route: disregard all headers that are two piece. I've seen them and experienced them blow the gasket between the top and bottom sections multiple times...as in going through a new gasket every 6 months or less. Go with a one piece header or be prepared to exhaust leaks all the damn time.
