Default Can I daily drive with a basemap?

So I have a d16y8 with a obd1 harness and I plan to turbo in the future but not yet. For now I just want it to run like stock till I turbo, so would I be able to daily drive it on a basemap from xenocron? It's bone stock other than the harness, but I heard that xenocron basemaps can torch your engine. Thanks!

Considering you get that engine running properly by sorting the harness issues.. If not, it won't run well on anything. To answer your question though, if you're planning on chipping a P28 for a stock Y8, you're wasting money. Why? P28 will run your Y8 just fine and the xeno chip will need to be reprogrammed when you turbo. If you're planning on basemap chip after turbo, you **can** chip it, but it is not only the least favored option, but also not a recommended thing to do. If you're looking to daily drive that, you're asking for trouble.

never ever drive anything on a basemap, especially long term. unless the tuner specifically says you can, which is extremely rare, and not always correct.
