Just got a 2000 civic ex. Got it home and put in a new alternator. Now it will start and stall immediately after. If I do get it to run it idles at 2000rpm then starts the Honda roaming idle. I noticed something else, when I turn the key to the on position the dash lights do not flash at all only when the car is running the dash lights will come on.

 

have a look at ig switch.
if contacts are black just replace unless you
cant afford 50 clams.

Thank you! I will pull it apart and try cleaning it because it looks interesting. Added bonus saving 50 bucks .

 

I cleaned the ignition and the problem seemed better. It stalled only once or twice immediately after starting. Wiggling the key had no effect. I purchased an oem switch online and have everything apart anyway for the radio. This is what I found.



It's wired for a remote start and alarm system. Will these connections cause problems with the new ignition switch? Maybe there's a better way to connect them?

 

Ended up going with positap threaded connections and installed the new oem ignition switch. Thanks for the help. Replacement remote came in the mail and the remote start works.
