Interchangeable ecu?
Your stock OBD2 ECU cannot be modified to accept Hondata. You would need to purchase an OBD2 to OBD1 harness and an OBD1 (Civic/Integra) ECU modified, chipped, for the Hondata hardware.
thank you! One more question when you say ecu modified I can't just buy a stock ecu? Then put the hondata chip in myself? Sorry I'm new to this I've never messed around with ecu.
If you are familiar with soldering resistors, chips and other electronic components onto a circuit board, you can chip an ECU yourself. I did my own and quite a few others since then.
PGMFI.org is a good place to learn about OBD1 ECU's and the modifications that can be done to them. Hondata.com also has a good ECU tech section.
