After upgrading the intake, ECU need tune?
For a 2007 Civic SI, I was wondering if I wanted to change the intake would I need to a tune or maybe changing the MAF sensor? Im not sure what advantage there would be in changing the MAF sensor, please give advice. Thanks!
Changing the MAF is un-necessary... besides, the IAT is located within the MAF anyway, so it would have to be a application specific change. Normally, when major modifications to an engine system occur, it is customary to tune the car via speed density (MAP) and then the MAF would be ignored. The unfortunate part about installing an intake on a MAF application is sometimes the air flow is disrupted by the intake tube design itself, grossly affecting the readings received and communicated to the computer. This REQUIRES tuning to repair. If you want to achieve maximum performance gains WITHOUT any ill effects or performance loss in the low and mid range areas of the power band... you must tune.
