Icon5 Idles great, BUT will not accelerate past past 2k RPM

Hey everybody, excited I just picked up a 1992 accord, but it is having some issues. Only 162k miles and in great shape. Has been sitting for 5 months.

Car will start right up and idles smooth as butter. But will not accelerate past 2,000 rpm. It acts like its hitting the rev limiter and starts sputtering/bogging/ and jerking around 1200-2000rpm until it drops back down to idle. Then idles smooth as butter. After about 15 minutes it will trip Code 43 (Fuel System).

I've been researching like crazy and will start going down this list, but wanted to hear other input first (new to hondas) as someone might know right off the top of their head;

1. Clean EGR valve
2. Check TPS resistance
3. Fuel Filter
4. Ignition system
5. Bad gas after 5 months?

Appreciate any help!

Great read! From going over that it sounds like coil or egr.

To to answer the question the plugs, wires, distributor were replaced 12 months ago for symptoms of bogging down.

Not it sure about the coil will check the records.

coil is the weakest link imho, it will bite the dust eventually.
carrying a spare is a good idea even if it's a rockauto cheapy.
the stealership part is worth the extra $ imho but shop around.
got mine through amazon at $75. your issue is not likely icm
but they will bite your *** sooner or later. honda wants $200 for mine.
went with the airtex from rockauto for $40, designed not to go **** up from
heat issues like the honda nec units.

gas will go bad in 5 months (mine did) but you wouldn't be "idling like butter" if it did.
maybe the ECM FI timing in backup mode? I got a spare ECM from a junkyard for $40. maybe that's your Code 43.

If still not resolved, maybe add the Oxygen Sensor to your list of things to check. Your symptoms (sputtering, bogging, jerking) are what a bad O2 Sensor in these cars causes.
