When i decide to upgrade my remote start to a 2 way security i will do a guide for a EG coupe.
and today a 07 Oddyssy rolled in here for remove security and install smart start system.
so that will be posted sometime tomorrow.
My question is do you guys think there will be enough interest in doing this for other models?
If so I'm willing to install mostly any security/remote start free labor for anyone is willing to travel and allow me to use their car for the DIY photos for HT.
Also each vehicle i do will explain how to install remote start and how to remove faulty security systems. it would be nice to have a guide in each specific car range to link on how to fix "CAR WONT START SECURITY SYSTEM"
IF this becomes a thing i would need to make a list and find volunteers for each category.
almost any remote start security will come with a keyless fob.
but if your just interested in just remote start avital and viper as well as code alarm all offer one button push to start.
one button models listed below.
Avital 4115
Viper 4115v
Code Alarm CA4053
also you could do smart start like i did today in the Odyssy and just use your phone and not use a key fob at all.
Do you know if the Avital alarm main module (brain) are interchangeable with older avital system?
I have an old model, avital 2100 series security system. Installed in one of my car but its outdated and range is not very good. Do i need a complete removal and reinstall of new system or can i just buy the brain and plug it in with the older unit harness?
if your box has wire coming out like this one in poto yes just double check the placement of heavy gauge wires and the other two harness'
but from just doing a quick google search yours looks like it has that stupid ribbon cable with separate relay box. if thats the case you can still update very easily you just wont be able to swap brains like you hoped. If you want help id be willing to help you through the process.
all the wire required to install are already tapped for you. so no guessing and your siren is ran to the engine bay most likely and shock sensor as well. all you would need to connect are the 9 wires showing above and you could possibly get away with butt connectors. even though i always like to do full removal and reinstall just to make sure previous system was installed correctly.
That's what I was hoping to encourage by showing how easy and cheap it is to make you're car virtually impossible to break into or steal without alerting you. Two way security systems are less than 200. Adding a level switch and sonar and you've got a system I couldn't get past, Not without you and everyone else knowing.
ill have to check those out when I get a moment. Probably won't do any DIY if it's already been covered.
sorry, but its not gonna fly. Its simple when talking about it but finding the place to hide it is another. Most of the wiring are just being 'spliced in', the only thing that isn't is the ignition disabled relay.
What is hard is locating the wires, but nowadays you can just find the wiring diagram online and verify the connections with either a test light or a dmm.
Sorry but that is not going to fly you'd have to get past three different sensors first without waking the neighbors or allowing the security system page my remote. This means you can't open the trunk, hood, doors or lift vehicle anyway create any heavy movement shaking the vehicle or have any movement at all inside the vehicle. If you did get past those barriers without an EMP then you'd have to find my relays cutting fuel and spark along with the basic cut starter wire.
Again all less than 200.
I apologize if you find yourself getting upset because I don't agree with you. I started to thread to find volunteers to help make DIY's. Not to argue about what you think you know about car security.
I belive youre overlooking the fact that the car security is designed to alert you of burglar's. not secretly disable the car from running. I can do that with a $30 PKE and a couple relay's disabling the car unless it senses my key fob.
i can't blame you because you don't know me but I refuse to deal with people who let their ego dictate their lives and try to dictate my reactions.
As as you said there are plenty of guides and I've found a site dedicated to it including stealth.
Only thing he doesn't cover is PKE but they are relatively new so it's understandable. And there hasn't been anyone else interested so like I already said I'm probably not going to make any redundant DIY's
What ego? its the truth, I don't display my install locations to the public because I want to ensure my customers/family/friends stay secured, only the owners of the cars know.
Wiring up an alarm is basically splicing into the factory car wiring.
You as OP haven't displayed anything but yet ask for something, so hilarious.
I don't understand why you're blowing up my comments like I'm proving myself. All I'm saying is no one wants to have their car alarm install publicly viewed, defeats the purpose.
I see what you're doing but even after the sites that I go to that publish alarm installs, even one site showing the location of a couple of installs, there will always be people out there who don't want to bother with the headaches. If you want to sit there and get mad because of a comment in a public forum I suggest you should start a website with your location so people can just stop by and you can work on there ride for free. You can even promote the site for free on youtube or facebook. In fact I just told a couple people about a member on HT who wants to install your alarm for free, ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES YOU CAN ASK FOR.
I thank you for your input and opinion it did lead me to be more weary of what I post and the content in my posts. Prior to that I wasn't thinking along the lines of people using this info to bypass security systems. And that also led me to find a very detailed web page outlining stealth installs.
But it once I again I want reiterate that I'm only offering free labor to help get me hands on Honda models that I don't have available to myself. Basically show people how to do basic at home remote starts. i feel that if more people knew that you could have one for less than 60 more people would be doing it.
