So far I have these things to replace while the motor is still out.

Motor is a JDM SIR OBD2 B16A.

- Water Pump
- Timing Belt
- Oil Pump (Any recommendation on brand?)
- Spark Plugs
- Spark Plug Wires
- Valve Cover Gasket
- Oil Change w/ Filter

Any more small things to replace before I drop her in? Also, what brand of timing belt and water pump does everyone use when they rebuild or replace?

Also, OEM is the way to go. Cross shop websites, but usually Majestic Honda is a great deal on parts.



Also replace the timing belt tensioner bearing and spring.

 

Hondapartsnow is another good source for OEM parts. pretty good pricing.

 

But how is the shipping?

That's what I heard was the challenge with some online OEM sites. Part prices are less but shipping and handling more than makes up for it.

 

I used to use OEM everything when a buddy of mine worked at our local Honda but I can't say I don't agree with you. If I buy a lot of stuff (like I am now) I can get over the shipping cost but if you're only buying 1-2 things, it sucks.

It is unnecessary to charge $15.99 shipping for a sensor or something that could fit in a small padded envelope. I just don't get it.

 

Have never swapped in a B motor , but have done many D motors. Other than usual stuff, t belt and all the intake gaskets needed when I would swap the original intake system onto the new motor, the rear main seal was it. The only reason for that was once I put a manual tranny flywheel where a auto flexplate was and the lip on the fly wheel came in contact with the main seal and caused a leak. Many of those are still putting with no problems. Most all that can be gotten to easily with motor in the car if need be. BUT, do what gives you the most peace of mind.......
