Hey there guys

It is finally time to replace my upper balljoints on my car. I have some bolt in ball joints that rotate to adjust camber. I've never been a fan of them. They're basically these ones: More Information for MAS B90492

Nice and cheap. They have a lot of play already. I've had them for maybe 3-4 years.
I'm looking to either replace them with another set, as they're only like $24 each, or upgrade to something better.

Moog upper ball joint, with either Ingalls camber kit or another version off Rock Auto. Ball joints would be $40 each, plus 88 each for the Ingalls kit, so about ~$250 total.
Mevotech also sells a camber kit, but I don't know how good it is.

That brings me to HardRace. About $233 + shipping. Heard great things.

Skunk2 is NOT an option. I do not like their design at all.

Any opinions or other options I'm missing? This is for a daily driver.

TL;DR need front adjustable camber, hate skunk2, give me opinions



Reason: My frame is a little tweaked, so I need the camber adjustment. Also I'm lowered. Factory parts don't put me in spec without adjustability.

 

The PCI kit looks nice but you don't really need it for a daily driver. The cons (cost, reduced suspension travel and durability) outweigh the pros for that kind of use. If you have a bad frame fix it, don't go for a band aid type solution.

 

Yeah you've listed exactly why I don't want to go with the ball joint bolt on type of kits. I'm well aware. That's why I'm comparing the Ingalls and Hardrace... Thanks for the input.

Exactly... The frame has been like this for the 6 years I've owned the car. It's very minor, but it does affect my alignment.

This is pretty typical though. I came here for advice on camber kits, and people say to fix my frame. That's great guys, expected more, especially from Tyson. Reminds me why I don't frequent H-T anymore.
I'm just gonna go with the Hardrace pieces. Expensive, but at least I hopefully won't have to replace the ball joints for 5+ years.

Tweaked. If it was as bad as you're thinking it was, it would NOT have passed the last inspection it went though. It's a 28 year old car that rear ended something at some point in its life.

Maybe one day I'll fix the frame, but it doesn't affect anything except for a little camber... so I don't see a point.

Wow, that's a major dick statement. If you equate one's owning of a nice, or shitty Honda to "life status" then that's sad. Are we still trying to "own" everyone else around here? Did I miss the memo, or mission statement in the terms of use agreement?

 

While not a courteous statement you should have seen this place back in 2004, it is tame by comparison.

And what's with trying to get camber "in spec". Your ride height isn't "in spec" what makes you think camber needs to be?

You're right. I should just run excessive toe and take my suspension out. Being in spec is totally pointless and I'll take your remark to heart. Thanks, you've really opened my eyes.


It isn't worth spending tons of money on this car's body. Maybe some day, but not for a long time... I've got other, more important things to spend money on, and it isn't the only vehicle I drive either.

Choose whatever camber kit you want. You really don't need one if you just fixed your real issue.

But i got it, you need to know the best kits to score points hard parking.

Ingalls work but you will find you'll need to grind the ends of the arm so they don't interfere with the chassis.

You are better off just slotting the holes on OEM UCA and grind as necessary without buying anything else.
