Have had a couple people mention doin a Vitara build on the y8 im pullin out in a couple days wanted to see what i can find out

What are the pros and cons??
What specific years and motor am i looking for to pull parts from??

 

Most important with vitara slugs is to use custom length rods for them, if not your compression is going way to down. The price for a custom rod and piston kit is less expensive than a set of forged pistons alone.

Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Will suffice for most 3-400whp builds

Cons:
- Require custom length rods, otherwise static CR is garbage (like 7.8-8.2:1 IIRC)
- They're not the best option, but will do the trick.

OP: What is your power goal? I assume you're turbocharging it....correct?

 

yes turbo is an eventuality......just kinda tossin around ideas of what to build. Got a car from a family friend, long story short the car kinda has history so i want to do something cool with it but wanna stay with the y8 (at least mostly). But at the same time is gunna be my wifes daily so not goin super ridiculous with it......probably around 200hp or so. My club president mentioned doina vitara build on it so wanted to see what others thought bout it
